Enter the passing percentage used by your school as the target. If the required final score is above 100%, the target is not mathematically reachable through that final alone under the assumptions entered.
The estimate uses: required score = (target course grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. The final weight is entered as a percentage of the overall course grade, then converted to a fraction for the calculation.
The final exam weight is the share of the overall course grade assigned to that exam. Check your syllabus or grading portal; the calculator cannot determine the weight for your class.
Enter the cutoff percentage your course uses for an A or B as the target. Letter-grade cutoffs differ by instructor and institution, so do not assume that 90% or 80% applies to every class.
